Petrol prices will rise by N$1.50 per litre from Wednesday, 7 October, pushing Petrol 95 to N$26.58 per litre in Walvis Bay, while diesel prices remain unchanged.
The announcement was made by Mines and Energy Minister, Modestus Amutse in Windhoek on Friday.
Amutse said diesel 50ppm will remain at N$27.86 per litre and diesel 10ppm at N$27.96. The increase follows higher international petroleum and shipping costs, a weaker Namibia dollar and supply disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The average international price of Petrol 95 increased by 19.27% between August and September, from USD124.390 to USD148.364 per barrel.
“International oil market developments remained highly volatile due to ever escalating geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions in the Middle East,” Amutse said.
Despite the increase, the ministry said Namibia has adequate fuel stocks and faces no immediate risk of shortages.
According to him, government is also using the Bulk Petroleum Import Coordination (BPIC) mechanism to reduce the impact of international fuel price shocks. Emergency arrangements between July and October removed additional premiums that could have cost the economy between N$400 million and N$700 million, according to the ministry.
For November 2026 to January 2027, TotalEnergies Marketing Namibia and its trading partner TOTSA were selected to supply bulk fuel at a weighted discount of 63.85 cents per litre, expected to save about N$220.5 million.
